Anderson Park - February 2012
Some of the VBCA's initiatives with respect to Anderson Park are starting to come to fruition.
Work on the drainage issues are ongoing. The main drainage gully has being cleared of weeds, silt, shrubs and pine trees and a rock fill applied but more work remains to be done. This is a significant step towards getting the park to drain and make it more usable.
The children's playground is nearing competion. The playground equipment, soft-fall base, and retaining wall have been completed despite the very wet weather. Now that the sun is shining again work has resumed on the final landscaping and then we can look forward to a good workout by the residents that really matter - the children. We are also working on getting seating, litter bins and some shade arranged in due course. The playground equipment, valued at over $60,000, has been funded by a combination of the following:
- The Valla Beach Community Association using money raised at the community market
- Nambucca Shire Council Section 94 contributions
- Nambucca Shire Council grants from the NSW state government
- Nambucca Shire Council funds
It was sad to see that the new toilet block has been vandalised in January and February. Someone decided that they needed the door signs more than the community and for some strange reason the structure is being used as a climbing frame by teenagers. If you know who is doing this then please have a quiet word in their ear! |
