With regret the Valla Beach Community Association have decided to cancel the Community Market that was planned for Saturday April 4. The decision is taken in light of the current health situation that is sweeping the world and has been recommended by Nambucca Valley Council.

The next market is planned for Saturday June 6.

Australia Day Award

Mel BestThe Valla Beach Community Association (VBCA) was honoured with a Service to Community by Organisation award by Nambucca Valley Council at the Australia Day ceremony.

The award reflects the work that the VBCA has made to the community in recent years much of which has been achieved through the success of the bimonthly Valla Beach Markets.

The award also reflects the partnership between the VBCA and the Community Drug and Alcohol Team (CDAT) through the markets.

The VBCA and markets were saddended at the passing or Melvyn (Mel) Best in early January. Mel, a stalwart in the successful running of the VBCA and Valla Beach Markets, was posthumously awarded the Senior Citizen of the Year for 2020 by Nambucca Valley Council at the Australia Day ceremony.

We are striving for a plastic free and eco friendly Market - come and visit the Market Office, borrow a mug for your hot drink and when finished, return the mug to the table beside Boomerang Bagthe coffee van where it will be washed and reused.

We also encourage Market visitors to bring along their own re-useable bags for their purchases. ’Boomerang bags’ are also available for your use.

About the Valla Beach Community Market

The Valla Beach Community Association (VBCA) hold a market from 8:00am to 1:00pm on the first Saturday of every even month (Feb, Apr, Jun, Aug, Oct, and Dec), focusing on home made and home grown local produce - food, arts, crafts and fantastic musical talent. It runs at the Valla Reserve (also known as “Lion’s Park”), at Valla Beach, a serene and peaceful seaside village. Remaining dates for 2020 are:

The location is next to the footbridge across Deep Creek, at the end of Ocean View Drive, and just a kilometre or two from the Pacific Highway. Head towards the Valla Beach Tourist Park and turn left just before the entry - just follow the Market signs! Click here for directions.

Supporting the Community

The market is an initiative of the Valla Beach Community Association to raise money for the protection, repairs and positive growth of Valla Beach along with creating an avenue for networking and bringing the community together for good times and great bargains.

The markets contribute funds towards projects many of which are located at Anderson Park. We have previously outlaid over $15,000 towards a childrens playground and seating, and have installed shading over the playground at a cost in the region of $26,500. A second seating area, including a cover, has also been installed and work was completed to improve the drainage on Anderson Park to make it much more usable after periods of rain. Cricket practice nets have been erected and the installation of netball/basketball courts is almost complete.

Help us to set the priorities by coming along to a community meeting or contact us to give us your views.
